SIGNIFICANT WORDS AND PHRASES IN
SŪRAH AL-FATH, SŪRAH AL-HUJURĀT,
AND SŪRAH QĀF
6. COMMANDS, ADVICES, AND TEACHINGS
a. Commands of Allah (Subhānahū wa Ta‘ālā)wa tu‘azzirūhu wa tuwaqqirūhu, and assist him and honour him (the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam), Verse number (48:9)
wa tusabbihūhu bukratan wa asīlā, and that you Glorify Him (Allah) morning and evening (48:9)
wa alzamahum Kalimat at-Taqwā, and (Allah) made incumbent on them the Word of Piety, (48:26)
yā ayyuhalladhīna āmanū lā tuqaddimū bayna Yadayillāhi wa Rasūlihī, O you who believe, be not forward in the presence of Allah and His Prophetic Messenger (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam); O you who believe, do not precede (in doing anything) before Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) (tell you about it), (49:1)
wat-Taqullāh, and be in reverential awe of Allah, (49:1)yā ayyuhalladhīna āmanū lā tarfa‘ū aswātakum fawqa sawtin-Nabī, O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam), (49:2)
wa lā tajharū lahū bil-qawli ka jahri ba‘dikum li ba‘d(in), and do not speak loudly to him as you speak loudly to one another, (49:2)
yā ayyuhalladhīna āmanū in jā’akum fāsiqun bi naba’in fa tabayyanū, O you who believe! If any sinful person comes to you with any news, verify it, (49:6)
wa in tā’ifatāni minal-mu’minīn-aqtatalū fa aslihū baynahumā, and if two groups of Muslim believers fight each other, then make peace between them, (49:9)
faqātilullatī tabghī hattā tafī’a ilā Amrillāh, then fight that which transgresses until it returns to the Command of Allah, (49:9)
Amrillāh, Command of Allah, (49:9)fa in fā’at fa aslihū baynahumā bil-‘adl, then if it returns (complies), then make peace between them with justice, (49:9)
wa aqsitū, and do justice, (49:9)wat-Taqullāh(a) la‘allakum turhamūn, and be in reverential awe of Allah that perhaps you may receive mercy (from Allah), (49:10)
yā ayyuhalladhīna āmanū lā yaskhar qawm(un) min qawm(in), O you who believe, let not one group of people mock at another group of people, (49:11)
lā yaskhar, do not mock, (49:11)
wa lā talmizū anfusakum, and do not defame one another, (49:11)wa lā tanābazū bil-alqāb, nor call one another by offensive nick-names, (49:11)
yā ayyuhalladhīna āmanujtanibū kathīr(an) min az-zann, O you who believe, avoid most of suspicion, (49:12)
wa lā tajassasū, and do not spy, (49:12)wa lā yaghtab ba‘dukum ba‘dā, and do not backbite one another, (49:12)
udkhulūhā bi salām, dhālika Yawmul-khulūd, enter you therein (in Paradise) in peace, this is the Day of eternal life (in the Hereafter), (50:34)
b. Advices to RasūlAllah (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam)qul, say (O Prophet, Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) (Prophet Muhammad, Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, conveyed to humanity all the teachings in the Qur’ān), (48:11), (49:14)
qul lā tamunnū ‘alayya Islāmakum, say (O Beloved Prophet, Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam): do not consider your (acceptance of) Islām as a favour to me, (49:17)
fasbir, so be patient, (50:39)wa Sabbih bi Hamdi Rabbika, and Glorify the Praises of your Lord, (50:39)
wa mā anta ‘alayhim bi jabbār, and you (O Beloved Prophet, Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) are not a compeller over them (to force them to belief), (50:45)
fa dhakkir bil-Qur’ān(i) man yakhāfu wa‘īd, so remind, by (means of) the Qur’ān, whoever fears My threat (of punishment for bad deeds), (50:45)
c. Other Teachings of the Qur’āninnalladhīna yubāyi‘ūnaka innamā yubāyi‘ūn Allah, surely, those who pledge allegiance to you (O Prophet, Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam), indeed pledge allegiance to Allah, (48:10)
faman yamliku lakum minAllah(i) shay’an, so who has any power for you against Allah, (48:11)
wa man Yuti‘illāh(a) wa Rasūlahū yudkhilhu Jannāt(in) tajrī min tahtihal-anhār, and whosoever obeys Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam), He (Allah) will admit him to Gardens (of Paradise) beneath which streams flow, (48:17)
wa man yatawalla yu‘adhdhib-hu ‘adhāb(an) alīmā, and whosoever turns away, He (Allah) will punish him with a painful punishment, (48:17)
wa law qātalakumulladhīna kafarū lawallawul-adbār(a), and if those who disbelieve fight against you, they would certainly turn their backs, (48:22)
liyudkhil Allāh(u) fī Rahmatihī man yashā’, so that Allah may admit into His Mercy who He pleases, (48:25)
la ‘adhdhabnalladhīna kafarū, We (Allah) would surely have punished the disbelievers, (48:25)
innamal-mu’minūn(a) ikhwah, surely, Muslims are brothers, (49:10)fa aslihū bayna akhawaykum, so make peace between your two brothers, (49:10)
bi’sal ismul-fusūq(u) ba‘dal-Īmān, ill-seeming is a name connoting sinfulness (to be used about someone) after belief (after he has believed), (49:11)
wa man lam yatub fa ulā’ika humuz-zālimūn, and those who do not repent are the ones who are the wrong-doers, (49:11)
inna ba‘d az-zann(i) ithm, indeed, some suspicion is a sin, (49:12)yā ayyuhan-nās(u) innā Khalaqnākum min dhakar(in) wa unthā, O mankind, indeed We (Allah) have created you from a male and a female, (49:13)
wa Ja‘alnākum shu‘ūb(an) wa qabā’il(a) li ta‘ārafū, and We (Allah) made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another, (49:13)
inna akramakum ‘ind Allāh(i) atqākum, surely, the noblest of you with Allah is the one among you who is most pious, (49:13)
wa in Tutī‘ullāh(a) wa Rasūlahū lā yalitkum min a‘mālikum shay’ā, but if you obey Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam), He (Allah) will not diminish anything (of the reward) of your deeds, (49:14)
Balillāh(u) yamunnu ‘alaykum an hadākum lil-Īmān, but Allah has conferred a favour upon you in that He has guided you to the Faith, (49:17)
kull(un) kadhdhabar-Rusul(a) fahaqqa wa‘īd, all of them (the tribes and communities mentioned) belied the (Prophetic) Messengers (of Allah) and so the threat (of Allah’s punishment) was fulfilled, (50:14)
alladhī ja‘ala ma‘Allāh(i) ilāh(an) ākhara fa alqiyāhu fil-‘adhābish-shadīd, who has set up another god with Allah, so you two (angels) fling him into the severe punishment, (50:26)
dhikrā, admonition, reminder (in the Qur’ān), (50:37)
wa laqad Khalaqnas-samāwāt(i) wal-ard(a) wa mā baynahumā fī sittati ayyām(in) wa mā Massanā min lughūb, and indeed We (Allah) created the heavens and the earth and whatever is in-between them both in six days, and no weariness touched Us (Allah), (50:38)
