2.  ARKĀN AL-ISLĀM (PILLARS OF ISLĀM)

a. Kalimah Shahādah (The Declaration of Muslim Faith)

lā ilāha Illallāh, there is no god but Allāh, Hadīth numbers 2, 3, 8

Muhammadan Rasūlullāh, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allāh, 2, 3, 8

Shahādah, bearing witness, that there is no god but Allāh and that Sayyidinā Muhammad (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) is His Messenger, 3

b. Salāh

as-Salāh, the Prayer to worship Allāh, Subhānahu wa Ta‘ālā, as shown by Prophet Muhammad, Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, 2

al-Maktūbāt, the Obligatory Prayers, 22

c. Zakāt

az-Zakāt, obligatory annual charity, prescribed by Allāh, Subhānahu wa Ta‘ālā, 2

d. Sawm

Sawm, fasting, as prescribed by Allāh, Subhānahu wa Ta‘ālā, 3
