About Us Madrasa Al-Hidaya

Madrasa al-Hidaya is a Muslim Sunday school in Toronto, Canada, based at home. The timings are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday. No fees are charged, the madrasa is free.

How to perform wudu (ablution, washing up for Prayer),
How to be properly dressed as a Muslim and acquire adab (proper good manners and respect), and akhlaq (good moral character), with exhortations to perform good deeds and acquire piety,
How to pray the five times Salah, to give the adhan and the iqama,
Proper Qur’anic recitation (tajweed), and Qur’an memorization,
Hadith recitation from Riyad us Salihin, and Hadith memorization of at least forty Hadith,
Aqida (Muslim beliefs) from Aqidatul ‘Awam of Imam Ahmad bin Marzuq,
Various du‘a (supplications to Allah) made by our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam,
Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and salawat and salams (the invocation of blessings and peace) on Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam,
Muslim religious poetry, especially that of Imam al-Busiri, Imam ‘Abdallah bin ‘Alawi al-Haddad, and Imam ‘Ali bin Muhammad al-Habshi, may Allah be please with them all,
Arabic language, especially how to use the Arabic-English dictionary so that they can understand the meanings of the verses of the Qur’an, the Hadith, and some of the Arabic texts that they recite, and
Arabic calligraphy.

The ultimate aim is to cultivate love for Allah Sub’hanahu wa Ta‘ala, love for our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, love for his Family and Companions, Rady Allahu ‘Anhum, love for the awliya Allah (Friends of Allah, sufi saints), and the salihin (the pious), may Allah make us benefit from them, Amin. The hope is to obtain the maghfirah (forgiveness) from Allah Sub’hanahu wa Ta‘ala.

Al-Hamdu Lillah, this web-site of Madrasa al-Hidaya has been designed to post some of the books on the basic teachings of Islam that the students of the madrasa have themselves produced through teamwork effort. It also presents the translations of some of the classics of Muslim spirituality written by various shuyukh (spiritual masters), as well as other articles, to propagate Islam, and to make us better Muslims.
