HADITH: SAYINGS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD

Chapter 14
Good eating and drinking habits
1. Mother of believers, Sayyidatina ‘Aisha (ر) relates, “The right hand of the Holy Prophet (ص) was used for clean and nice things and for eating; and his left hand was used in the washroom and for other similar functions”. (Abu Dawud)
2. Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (ر) said, “The Holy Prophet (ص) never found fault with any food. If he had the inclination, he would eat it and if he disliked it, he would leave it”. (Bukhari and Muslim)
3. Hadrat Anas bin Malik (ر) said that the Holy Prophet (ص) said, “Allah is pleased with a person who eats and praises Him for it, and drinks and praises Him for it”. (Muslim)
4. Hadrat Abu Qatadah (ر) relates that the Holy Prophet (ص) said, “One who serves drinks, should himself be the last person to drink”. (Tirmidhi)
Note: What are referred to here are obviuosly drinks that are permitted in Islam such as water, soft drinks, tea or coffee because as is well-known, alcoholic drinks are strictly prohibited in Islam.
