1. Feel the joy of reciting The Name of Allah in the Qur’ān
When we recite the Holy Qur’ān, we find that some of the verses begin with The Name of Allah, some end with The Name of Allah, and in some of the verses, The Name of Allah is mentioned somewhere in the middle. And we are naturally filled with joy to recite The Name of Allah in the Qur’ān on every page we open, it occurs with such regularity.
This is a summary of our findings about verses that end with the Name of Allah.
We find that one verse ends exclusively with The Name of Allah. It is the concluding verse of Sūrah al-Infitār. Its translation is:
The Day (of Judgement) when no soul shall have control for any other soul and the entire Command on that Day is of Allah. (82:19)
The way many of the verses of the Qur’ān end is particularly interesting. Many verses end with The Name of Allah together with two other Asmā’ al-Husnā’ (The Most Beautiful Names of Allah) like Ghafūr(un) Rahīm (The Forgiving, The Merciful). An example of such a verse ending is:
innAllāh(a) Ghafūr(un) Rahīm (surely, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful) (2:173)
So we are naturally led to undertake a study of such verses.
We also find that some of the verses end with the Name of Allah together with one other Most Beautiful Name of Allah. An example of such a verse ending is:
innAllāh(a) bihī ‘Alīm (Allah is All-Knowing about it) (2:215)
Then we find that some of the verses end with The Name of Allah together with other Sifāt (Attributes) of Allah like Rabb-il-‘Ālamīn (The Lord of the worlds) (verse 1:1), and Ahkam-il-Hākamīn (The Most Just of judges) (verse 98:5). So we study these verses as well.
We find that 200 verses end with The Name of Allah together with two other Asmā’ al-Husnā’, more than 70 verses end with The Name of Allah together with one of the other Asmā’ al-Husnā’, and about 90 verses end with The Name of Allah together with some of the other Sifāt (Attributes) of Allah for a total of more than 360 verses or one verse for each day of the year.
Allāhu Akbar! (Allah is Supremely Great!)
If a child is learning to recite the Qur’ān with you for the first time, perhaps you might decide to recite a page a day. You soon find that verses of the Qur’ān end with the Asmā’ Allāh with such great regularity that you might decide to end your recitation each day with a verse that ends in the Asmā’ Allāh. In this way you make the Asmā’ Allāh your very own. And your forehead shines with the love of our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam). So when the opportunity arises, you end the recitation with a verse in praise of Sayyidinā Muhammad al-Mustafā (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam).
