HADITH: SAYINGS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD

Chapter 8
Du‘a: Supplication to Allah
1. Hadrat Abu Musa Ash‘ari (ر ) relates that the Holy Prophet (ص ) said: “Allah holds out His hand at night so that one who has sinned during the day might repent, and holds out His hand during the day so that one who has sinned at night might repent, and He will continue to do so till the sun rises from the West.” (that is, till the Day of Resurrection). (Muslim)
2. Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (ر ) relates that he heard the Holy Prophet (ص ) say: “Allah is my witness that I seek His forgiveness and turn to Him more than seventy times a day.” (Bukhari)
3. Hadrat ‘Abdallah ibn Mas‘ud (ر ) relates that the Holy Prophet (ص ) used to pray, “O Allah, I seek from You guidance, piety, chastity and richness of heart.” (Muslim)
4. Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (ر ) relates that the Holy Prophet (ص ) said: “A gathering in which there is no mention of Allah, Exalted and High, nor any invoking of blessings for their Prophet (ص) , will be afflicted with remorse. If Allah wills, He might punish them and if He wills, He might forgive them”. (Tirmidhi)
5. Hadrat ‘Abdallah ibn ‘Abbas (ر ) said that he heard the Holy Prophet (ص ) say, “If a Muslim dies and forty people, who do not join partners in worship with Allah, offer funeral prayers for him, Allah accepts their intercession for him”. (Muslim)
