HADITH: SAYINGS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD

Chapter 9
Ease in the Religion of Islam
1. Hadrat ‘Abdallah ibn Mas‘ud (ر ) relates that the Holy Prophet ص) ) said: “Those persons who put (unnecessary) hardships in practicing their religion were killed and destroyed”. He said this thrice. (Muslim)
2. Mother of believers, Sayyidatina ‘Aisha (ر ) relates that the Holy Prophet (ص ) sometimes used to avoid doing something, although he liked to do it, fearing that his followers might start doing it and it might become obligatory for them”. (Bukhari and Muslim)
3. Hadrat ‘Abdallah ibn ‘Umar (ر ) said: Whenever we pledged allegiance to the Holy Prophet (ص ) to hear and obey him, he used to say, “Only as much as you can” (in non-obligatory matters). (Bukhari and Muslim)
4. Hadrat Anas bin Malik (ر ) relates that the Holy Prophet (ص ) said: “Make things easy and do not make them harsh and difficult. Give cheers and glad tidings and do not create hatred”. (Bukhari and Muslim)
