DARS 10: LOVE FOR ALLAH AND PROPHET MUHAMMAD
(may Allah bless him and grant him peace)
In the words of my master, my grandfather, may Allah make people benefit from him, who explained what Allah, The Exalted, said (in the Qur’an):
Say (O Prophet)! If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your kinsfolk, and the wealth which you have acquired, and the business in which you fear a decline, and the houses which you like, are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and doing Jihad (fighting) in His Path, then wait until Allah brings about His Command, and Allah does not guide people who are disobedient. (9:24)
My grandfather explained, may Allah be pleased with him.
In this verse there is a threat that if man is (more) influenced by his wealth and his business and his children and everything that he owns compared to the love for Allah and His Messenger, then he has placed himself in danger, may Allah protect us from that. He is among those who have been led astray.
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: None of you believes until I am more beloved to him than his own self, and his family, and his wealth, and all the people.
Narrated Imam al-Bukhari that Sayyidina ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“O Messenger of Allah! You are more beloved to me that everything else except myself”. He said that truthfully at that time. So the Prophet (may Allah bless him) told him: “By Him in whose Hand is my soul, you do not believe until I am more beloved to you than your own self”. Then, Sayyidina ‘Umar said: “Now you are more beloved to me than myself”. So he responded: “Now your faith is complete, O ‘Umar”.
