DARS 4: THE PATHS THAT LEAD TO ALLAH
(The Glorified and The Exalted)

In the words of my master, my grandfather, may Allah make people benefit from him, who explained what Allah, The Exalted said (in the Qur’an):

And (as for) those who strive in Our Cause, We surely guide them in Our Paths. (29:69)

My grandfather, may Allah be pleased with him, explained.

And (as for) those who strive in Our Cause. (29:69)

That is, those who work earnestly and make every effort.

In our Cause. (29:69)

That is, in Our (Allah’s) worship, and drawing close to Us (Allah).

We surely guide them in Our Paths. (29:69)

That is, the Path of knowledge that leads to Us (Allah) until they know Us (Allah) and know Our (Allah’s) Majesty and Our (Allah’s) Perfection.

Some scholars have said: The Paths of knowledge that lead to Allah are as many as the breaths of the creatures. Mankind is connected to Allah in many ways. He is connected to Allah with faith, he is connected to Allah with knowledge, he is connected to Allah with dhikr (remembrance of Allah), he is connected to Allah with the reverential awe of Allah. By the Command of Allah, he is connected to Allah with chastity in abandoning the prohibited. These then are the Paths. That is, the Path that connects to Allah. So dhikr (remembrance of Allah) is a Path, and knowledge is a Path, and fighting in battle in the Path of Allah is a Path, and all the Paths are a connection to Allah. So these are the Paths to attain to Allah, The Glorified and the Exalted.

After that my master said, may Allah make people benefit from him.

Presently we believe in Allah but we don’t truly know Allah. And when will we truly come to know our Lord with the knowledge that will fill our hearts with tranquility, fill our limbs with reverential awe of Him, and that will make our supplications accepted? This will happen in accordance with what we do to cultivate faith with deeds of obedience (to Allah and His Prophet), and continue with it and are for ever busy in that. And if we do that, it will strengthen our faith, and spiritual light will descend into our hearts and we will become among the firm believers who have drawn near to Allah, The Glorified and The Exalted. When our Lord sees us coming to Him, He will receive us.
