MANBA‘ AL-IMDĀD: A FOUNTAIN OF HELP

Rahmatullāhi ‘alayh
In the words of my master, my grandfather, may Allah spread his benefit, after a qasida of Al-Habib ‘Ali bin Muhammad al-Habashi, may Allah spread his benefit, was recited in his presence, whose opening words are:
Sarranaa maa husila shahrunaa min ‘atiyyah
We are delighted with the gift we received in our month.He explained, may Allah be pleased with him.
You to whom these wonerful couplets are recited should know that most of them are spiritual realities and have great meaning. Their meaning has not become manifest to you but it has been your good fortune to obtain their spiritual light. This is because each word and each letter from the letters of the Knowers of Allah (‘Arifin) comes out with spiritual mystery and spiritual light. So, when they are recited, the spiritual light of these letters become manifest to you even if you do not understand their meanings. And the spiritual light of the Awliya’ (Friends of Allah) and the spiritual light of the ‘Arifin (Knowers of Allah) is a very great thing. This is the benefit of audition.
Then he said, may Allah be pleased with him.
Meaning goes step by step with the structure (of the couplet). And the structure goes step by step with the letters. And the letters contain the spiritual light of the Knowers of Allah. This is because each word that comes out, comes out of clothing that is in the heart. And each word that comes out, comes out with spiritual light. For example, the words of Al-Habib ‘Ali al-Habashi and the words of (Shaykh) Bura‘i and others all have spiritual light that shines. And this spiritual light is our share that is splashed in our hearts. So, may Allah make us from the people with spiritual light, and from the people who obtain presence.
And the great thing is the love of Allah, and the love of his Prophetic Messenger, and the love of the pious from the devotees of Allah. May Allah provide us with Acceptance in following their spiritual path. This is because love depends on following obediently. If you love someone, you follow him obediently and you adorn his actions.

Say (O Beloved Prophet)! If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you…. (3:31)
So if we follow the Prophetic Messenger of Allah, we follow Allah in what he commands us. And following the Prophetic Messenger of Allah is following his Companions and those who followed them, like these our shaykhs and our pious scholars, the Friends of Allah. So if we follow them, we enter their group and this is a thing of manifold greatness. O Allah! Bestow it upon us! Indeed you are the Owner of that, and All-Able to do it.
