DARS 56: FOLLOW THE SPIRITUAL PATH
OF THE PIOUS PREDECESSORS
In the words of my master, my grandfather, may Allah spread his benefit, in the Masjid ar-Riyadh, Mambrui, on Friday 25 Sha‘ban 1407 A.H. He said, may Allah be pleased with him.
The spiritual path of the pious predecessors is the spiritual path that is continuously connected. There is no intrusion in it, nor is there anything similar that can be compared with it. For this reason, if it is asked: “What is this path of the pious predecessors?” It is the true and tolerant pure Prophetic religion. And we are on this Spiritual Path, connected with it. Like if one of you says, or if your spokesman says: “I walk on the Spiritual Path of the pious predecessors”. So his shaykh is an ‘alim (scholar) whose shaykh is an ‘alim, whose shaykh is an ‘alim and in this way, a scholar, son of a scholar, son of a scholar; and a pious person, son of a pious person, son of a pious person; and a wali (saint), son of a wali, son of a wali, (all the way) to the Prophet, may Allah’s blessings be upon him. And each generation is better than the one that came later. And we are connected with these Sufi Folk and are on the Spiritual Path. And whoever opposes us or opposes this Spiritual Path, then he goes out of the straight way, and attaches with people who are not on this path.
And on top of that, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and his Family, said:
“I am leaving with you...if you hold on to it, you will not be misled after me, the Book of Allah, and my descendants from my Family. Indeed (Allah) the All-Knowing, the All-Aware, has informed me that these two will not separate until they both return to me at the Hawd (of Kawthar)”.
The intention: you have already heard a lot but you are not yet filled with tranquility, my brethren. And the hope is that Allah will make us among those who hear the Word and follow the best of it. And may He establish us on the Firm Word in this life and in the Hereafter, until we are rooted in this wholesome ‘aqida (creed) and this Path of the pious predecessors in our hearts and may He protect us against the thief of ‘aqida. The thief who does not steal clothes, nor does he steal property, nor does he steal money but he steals ‘aqida. He answers word after word until a person is flung into hell-fire afterwards. So he changes his ‘aqida, and his love for Allah and His Prophetic Messenger, and his love for the Family of the Prophet which is firmly established in the ‘Aqida al-Islam. These are the thieves that a person should beware of. These are the thieves that cut-off the spiritual path, may Allah save us.
We hope, if Allah wills, that we remain with the spiritual secret of the pious predecessors, and on the spiritual path of the pious predecessors, and on the spiritual path of al-Habib Salih bin ‘Alawi Jamalillayl, and those who are on his spiritual path in his town, and in Mambrui, and in all this area and these lands. These lands have water of this ‘aqida, pleasant water, sweet water, agreeable water. So now they come and intend to throw in it bitterness, and to throw in it filth and to pollute the water of this ‘aqida, until the Muslims are divided in beliefs, may Allah save us.
May Allah save us from that, and establish us on the Firm Word in this world and in the Hereafter, and make us among those who hear the Word and follow the best of it.
Then my master made a long and great supplication, and recited the Fatiha upon completion.
